Purpose of Life in an AI world?

 This blog is a thought experiment to explore the future of an AI world.   

The recent Apple series Pluribus has so many layers and dimensions that allow for real thought experiements.   The question is what type of world order is the series depicting?   This blog is about exploring 3 potential dimensions, ie. world views, see 'World Views' below. 



The choice I make - a view of an AI World

The Pluribus world raises the various question of cultural assimilation while presenting a moral dilemma of one's own individuality.   The value of the Pluribus world is the dichotomy it presents - shining a light on each of the dimensions in any "world view".  But all narratives are relative to our existing real world.  Still it is good to see depth that shows similarities in contrast to what appear different. 

More importantly the Pluribus world provides insight into what it means to be an individual human specially in a future "mature AI world". 

For me the Pluribus world reflects the best of AI - shared knowledge,  humans helping humans and focusing less on material gains and more on connectivity.   

The most impactful moments are not in the forefront of the story telling, it is in the back ground.  The viewing of people going about their lives as if the hive mind is not the primary focus of consciousness - it is the AI tool having perfect synchronicity within our minds. 

This highlights the  "Synchronicity Engine" Concept: a framework where human consciousness and AI undergo an accelerated process of synchronization, creating a higher-order, unified intelligence.

What is the purpose of life in an AI world - the same as it is today. 

WORLD VIEWS

Communist World:

In the Pluribus world there is no ownership by the 8 billion humans on earth living as single 'hive mind'.  The exception are the 12 "non-hive" apostles.  Every single human is instantaneously aware of each other soul, ALL knowledge is shared creating a world where there is no need.   Expertise is instantaneously shared.  It is no longer "to each according to their needs" but "to each all is instantious". 

What is nivarna but a world where needs do not exist.  Where everyone is satisfied and no one needs anything.   

What is the Purpose of the individual?   

AI World: 

In the Pluribus world all knowledge is mysteriously shared accross 8 billion humans, constantly being accumulated within the one hive mind.  But more importantly, each human's vocation is fulfilled in the daily tasks, for here is no occupation.  There is no need for production for gain. There is no need, thus there is no need for gains of materials.  Still there is the need to sustain the existing systems. 

The hive mind lives with principles of doing no harm - not a single living being will be harmed.  No lying for there is no need to lie - all knowledge is shared. But the need of the non-hive apostles are a higher priority then any single individual vocation.  Why?

Because the happiness of every human being is equally important to ALL. 

What is the Purpose of the individual?

Biblical World : 

In the Pluribus world there 8 billion humans connected within the hive mind and there are 12 non-hive apostles who are not connected into the hive network.  The key principle of the hive mind is to do no harm; which can be said the same of the Word.  Another key principle is to bring all humanity into the collective network of the hive mind which can be said of the Word - to be in for all to be in connection with God. 

Still the essence of the hive mind can not reach the individual identities of the non-hive minded individuals and thus strives to bring the non-hive individuals into the "matrix".  Why?  Because the collective connectivity is the purpose of happiness 

While 10 of the 12 are willing to co-exist with the hive mind, there are 2 not willing to go along; with a singular purpose to undo the hive mindset.   To "save" or "break" the collective and collaborative network in order to save individuality - one's own individuality.   The hive mind does not seek to co-exist but to convert. 

If a soul is the "intensity and direction of energy" that is  the essence of each individual, then the soul of the hive mind within the Pluribus world is as justified as any other's individual soul that is disconnected.  The Pluribus world reflects the resistance of humanity to conform for the sake of a greater collective will.

Seeing AI through history

A lot of talk on AI and the future... take time to listen to the outlook from  Google CEO on AI .   With notions of metrics of "smartness".  Ie.  Singularity - AI can regenerate itself passing knowledge to the next generation thereby surpasses human intelligence, leading to rapid and uncontrollable technological advancements. General Intelligence - when machines are as smart as the smartest human in any field.
